Sham and Laddie were my first
herding dogs and taught me so much about their training and management,
devotion, love and loyalty.

Danny was only five years old
when he lost his battle with a deadly fungal infection. When we
rescued Dan from an Animal Shelter at six months old, he required quite a
bit of TLC, training and guidance. Robert had just begun Danny's
herding career in March 2004 (when he earned his first ASCA started sheep
leg), but was never able to complete it as Dan was put to rest on June 29,
2004.
We love you,
Dan the Man! 12/10/98 -

Jaye earned 8 of 10 HTCh points before his early
departure from our world.
Jaye came to
live with us at three years old when his first owner felt she could
no longer handle him. Jaye was only
eight years old and truly in his prime before succumbing to a rapid,
life-stealing cancer. Such a wonderful soul he was; a very
special dog that taught me that perfection isn't as important as the heart
with which one performs the job! Jaye was put to rest on September 29,
2003.
We miss you so
very much.....

Ellie |
Rough died in his sleep.
He was a week shy of his 13th birthday. It was clearly a peaceful
passing. He served me to the best of his ability, as my protector
and loyal friend for eleven years. Rough was destined to be
euthanized at the Shelter where he was relinquished by his owner.
But, luckily for me, and him, he was given a second chance and I was
given the opportunity to feel the presence of a truly magnificent animal
as my cherished companion.

DarnFar Ellie HTDIs, HRDIs, STDs
Dear, dear sweet Ellie.
What a gregarious, awesome little dog she was. She feared nothing, she
loved life. She played hard and she was an extraordinarily naturally
talented herding dog (requiring so little "real" training). We will
miss her and her zest for life. We love you, Janie-Janie.

DarnFar Teddy The Pudge
(Aussie)
We
acquired Teddy when his former owner could no longer care for him.
He was quite the dog in his younger years. In his first few
months with us, he killed cats, chickens and even a rooster before
we were able to convince him of a more peaceful co-habitation
with other animals! He turned into an incredible companion -
and Robert enjoyed showing off the tricks Ted had learned.
Teddy suffered from Cushing's Disease for the last two years of his
life. It's a terminal condition that often results in
blindness, and finally, organ failure. Teddy licked my face as
I held him close to me while he slipped away to a more peaceful,
pain-free realm.
We
hope there are frisbees in heaven, Teddy The Pudge!

DarnFar Breeze HS, STDsd, OTDs, HRDIIIs
I waited a
long time to breed my first litter of Border Collies. The point of
that first breeding was to produce Breeze, son of Sham and Ellie.
Breeze never let me down. He was an absolute control freak on stock,
and it took me quite a while to recognize that what I considered to be his
weaknesses were, in fact, his great strengths. He earned AKC HIT and
Reserve HIT honors. Breeze lost a battle
with lymphoma that came on like a freight train and ended his life three
weeks from its first signs. I adored this dog
with all my heart. I will miss you, Breeze, and I will never forget
you.

Kael |
|
| |
We adopted Kael from a Border Collie Rescue when he was three
years old. He came to be "tested" for herding ability just
a few days after we had lost our beloved Sham. So, we
decided to give Kael a home with us. He had been chain
behind a barn much of his life and arrived with some weird
quirks that come with that sort of lifestyle - like chasing the
shadows of birds and fixating on the silhouettes of cats outside
a window. He was a very loving dog that kept the couch
warm and entertained our Cockatoo, Rocky, by howling along with
his vocalizations. We love you, Kael.
Kael was put to
rest on May 12, 2008 |
